There is this quest for a free internet connection by most people in the world, especially third world countries where internet fees are so high. Recently, Google Inc. partnered with the United Bank of Africa (UBA) to provide free internet connections to Nigerians. Currently, the service can only be accessible in some parts of Lagos with a promise to increase it to about 200 locations across 5 cities in Nigeria

HOW THE FREE WIFI WORKS

Google and UBA have partnered to provide this service and it is similar to Facebook’s EXPRESS WIFI. It can only be accessed from the locations provided. They have a plan of expanding to other parts of the country – 200 locations by the end of 2019.

Where can I get the free Wi-Fi in Lagos?

The locations where you can get the public Wi-Fi in Lagos include UBA HQ, Bank Road, Marina, Lekki Admiralty, Allen Avenue, Matori Fatai Ateri, Oke Arin, Tisco Plaza Alausa Ikeja, Ogunlana Drive Surulere, Warehouse Road Apapa, Aspamda Plaza Trade Fair.
This was brought in collaboration with 21st-century technologies in a bid to make more people able to connect to the internet.
Conclusion
I think this is a very great move by Google and UBA and should be extended to different parts of Nigeria. This will not only make people get connected to the internet but will cause a great reduction in the fee charged by network providers for data.
